I was reading through some papers today and I ran across this, it really touched my heart so I thought I would share it with everyone. It took me back to when I first encountered the Lord in my life in 2007:)
When the Bible says we are saved by grace, it means that you have done us the biggest favor of all–you have pardoned us from the death sentence that we all deserve because of our sin. We do not have to earn your favor or work our way into heaven. Hallelujah!
By grace we are forgiven for our sins and restored to full fellowship with you. Thank you, Lord. Please let us be humble enough to recognize our need for you and to request your forgiveness. The more we realize how much we need your grace, the more we realize we don’t deserve it–which is exactly why we need it! We cannot take credit for our salvation any more than a baby can brag about being born. The fact that this is your gift and not the product of our own effort gives us great comfort, security, and hope. Help us to accept your grace like the gift that it is.
After reading this I thought to myself, this reminds me of Ephesians 2:8-9 which says; God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. That is truly powerful and very deep as well. It’s all about Jesus and we are so fortunate to have such a compassionate, loving God.
Have a wonderful day.
