Allow me to share what the Lord has put on my heart this morning. This is another illustration of how a man can be in complete darkness because his heart is veiled with pride, yet, his inner man is yearning, seeking, and pleading to be set free. While I was in prison my friend David said we are all “Faceless” and will remain “Faceless” until we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. Why did he say this? Because when we live in darkness we are lost, we don’t know who we are, or what we are to do with our lives. Until one steps over the threshold that separates darkness from light, we shall remain “Faceless,” wandering around in darkness.
Matthew 11: 25-30 says; At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. “Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.” “All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son will to reveal Him.” “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. “Take My yoke upon and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Not only is that good news, but it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard in my life. Think about it brothers and sisters; all of us need rest, and Jesus promises to give it to us when we find our rest in Him. He will not scorn us for being weak, nor scorn us for being foolish. What does this mean? Jesus Christ promises to gently and humbly refresh our weary souls. Praise God!
I would like to share what David wrote while doing ten years in long-term segregation, a Kansas Super Maximum Prison. The said writing illustrates what we call the battlefield of the mind. David wrote this before He found the Lord in his life.
FACELESS
Voices penetrating my thoughts, Unwelcome and unwanted.
Empty souls crying out, Faceless men seeking recognition.
Day and night the cycle flows, Never ending, always erupting.
Prison, there is no haven from this Spirit bursting forth.
The words are often meaningless:
But the inner imperative known, Felt by one and all.
Faceless voices:
Are the men you come to know,
Known only by their hollow echo, Rarely by an appearance?
Nothing changes, day or night,
In this warehouse where I exist.
Faceless I remain;
A voice on paper, or in a thought.
This is my world, Do not join me! See me!
I remember the first time I ever read this, it was like I was looking in the mirror. My mind began to race, my heart began to race, and my heart became more numb to the system. Man, it really made me think about my life in a different way for the first time. Secretly I told myself I didn’t want to remain “Faceless.” I wanted something different in this journey we call life. Hallelujah!
Father God, I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ who shed His blood on the cross for all our sins. I come before you with a repentant heart asking you for your forgiveness. Lord I pray that the words you have given me this day bring encouragement and understanding to who may read them, thank you God! I pray that you continue to bless all of your children, protect them, provide for them, and shine your wonderful light through them. Lord I pray we all keep praying for brother David. I thank you God. I pray in the name of your wonderful Son Jesus Christ, Amen!
